Samoan Institute students service soon after tsunami

Our Institute president, House (Fale), and Taua lead our Institute.
Genesis and Elder DaBell pass out water, after a hot day of helping the Red Cross.
All the young adults ride in the back of pick-up trucks to Leone and Amanave, then back to Mesepa Chapel.

We are exhausted, but so glad to help, and enjoy being together.

Gail is gathering up the "Helping Hands" vest from the church.

Monday, October 12, 2009 (even Ezra's birthday) was a holiday from school. The Institute young adults heard that the Red Cross needed help in gathering information from those affected by the tsunami; many losing their homes. We didn't know how many would show up, knowing they only had 3 days notice. We thought they would want to begin in the late morning. Oh, no; they suggested 6:30 a.m. They came from all over the island and even Aunu'u; arriving as early as 5:30. We received a call at 6:00 in the morning, asking "Where are you?" It was a glorious experience, to be with over 75 young adults, who just enjoyed being together.

That's quite a group, what a neat experience.
