For Christmas, Danny and I got snowshoes. Now, the middle of the month they sat in their original packaging. "Are we going to use them, or not?"
With Andrew and Ashley, we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon above Brighton to the Crest Trail. With the cold inversion in the Salt Lake valley it was 22 degrees but when we parked up the canyon it was 37 degrees. What a beautiful sunny afternoon to spend snowshoeing. For a photo opportunity, Ashley and I stopped to rest. It was so warm I shed by hat and coat from time to time.
The Wasatch Mountains are a gift from Heavenly Father.
I never realized winter sports could be so much fun.
We stopped to adjust straps on our snowshoes.
Our long shadows reminded me of a similar picture we took in Samoa on Savai'i with Megan and Mike, when the sun was setting on the last place before it crossed the International Date Line into a new day. The difference is one is on sand and the other snow.

Sweet Ashley and Andrew.
Do you wish you came with us?
We do!
At the top we saw into Park City.
The guys found a short cut. It truly was shorter. We came down on our behinds.
The guys stayed on their feet. We laughed when we realized they saved us, maybe 2 minutes - at least one switchback on the trail.
Because of the beauty we almost forgot the valley was, goopy and soupy.
Danny, the best photographer ever, was busy taking pictures; so he didn't get in many. Here is proof he was actually with us.
We had a grand day. I am so glad we are now the proud owners of snowshoes. ...and we never know, they may come in handy for emergency preparedness; or just going out again next weekend. We were famished by the time we hiked 5 miles over 3 hours; and ended the day by eating at Lone Star Taqueria.

Beautiful pictures! I want to go next time. We went skiing yesterday and it was SO nice to be in the sun and got hot too. You are doing so good at updating.
That was so fun, we need to do that again!
