To'ona'i at Sinareta's

Sinareta, a young lady in our Institute invited us for Sunday To'ona'i (dinner). Her father played the guitar and sang for us. Her mother was the sweetest lady ever.

Mona helped with the meal. She too, is in our Institute. As is the custom, we ate with Mona and Sinareta. Afterwards the rest of the family will have their meal.
Her father showed us how he cooked the breadfruit in the umu (earth oven).
Mona, Sinareta, Sis. DaBell, and Sinareta's mother.
For dessert, her father cut sugar cane. We ate in the guest house (in the background).
The children love to chew on the sugar cane.
They live just a few yards from a beautiful lagoon which empties into the Pacific Ocean. This family is doing just what our Prophet's have instructed us to do; live productively. They grow banana, taro, breadfruit, squash, lemons, oranges, mango, papaya, pineapple, and others I can't even remember. Manuia Sinareta for sharing your wonderful Samoan culture.
